It is discussed for the feasibility of performance prediction of SLF interruption using the combined simulation of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and the circuit analysis with mathematical arc models.

We reveal that arc voltages under any conditions of rated voltage and puffer type of gas circuit breaker become highest around the current of 100 A. Therefore, the arc time constant of Mayr model for the simulation around current zero is the same value under any conditions.

The other parameter, the arc power loss of Mayr model, can be acquired if the value of extinction peak can be simulated by the CFD. In that case, the CFD analysis should be executed during an arc discharge from high current to 100 A. This means that the tiny current around current zero need not be computed for the performance prediction of SLF interruption.
